Best VPS for n8n
Start with a 4 GB RAM, 2 vCPU profile for a typical small production workload—but treat this as a workload baseline, not a provider recommendation.

VPS capacity calculator
Use workload inputs to produce an inspectable planning baseline. The formula deliberately rounds up to common capacity tiers.
Add monitoring and tested backups before production. Queue mode, large binary files, custom nodes, database placement, and burst behavior can require more capacity.
This is a transparent planning formula, not a benchmark or uptime guarantee. Validate it with a representative load test before purchase.
What changes the answer
- Workflow concurrency and peak memory, not only monthly run count.
- Whether executions process large files or many items.
- Database placement, retention, and queue mode.
- Your willingness to manage patches, monitoring, and backups.
Docker and operations
n8n's official Docker guidance says self-hosting requires server, container, scaling, and security knowledge. It supports PostgreSQL and still recommends a persistent .n8n volume because that directory holds important data such as encryption keys and logs.
For queue mode, n8n documents Redis as the pending-execution message broker; workers retrieve workflow data from the database. The same documentation does not recommend SQLite for queue mode. n8n also recommends reducing unnecessary execution data and pruning old executions to control database growth.
Pre-purchase validation
- Load-test a copy of your largest workflow at expected peak concurrency.
- Measure memory during binary-file processing, not only idle RAM.
- Confirm disk growth with your real execution-retention settings.
- Test a database and persistent-volume restore before relying on the server.
- Run n8n's documented security audit after configuration and updates.

FAQ
Is 2 GB enough?
Possibly for a light workload, but the current project has no benchmark proving it for your workflows.
Why are there no affiliate buttons?
The secure router activates only offers whose destination and terms have been verified. None are configured yet.
